Re: 9th Grade Show and Tell

There are any number of books on the topic, but I suggest he look at the
PIRA listing (available on the Web, but I don't have the URL at
and). --Also several university departments have listings and pictures of
demonstrations available as a service to their faculty for online ordering.
(Anyone can look at the list for an idea, just can't order the demo.)

There are a large number of JAVA applets available on the net which can
either demonstrate or provide for a lab simulation. Use of a search engine
will provide you with a list.
Here is one listing as an example, but there are MANY:
http://physicsweb.org/TIPTOP/VLAB/

I have a page of Java demonstrations/labs which I use in class listed at my
web site... go to
http://www.cath-mem.org/physics/contents.htm
and click on "Demonstrations".

A fellow townsman and a local 9th grade physical science teacher says that
he has run out of good ideas for demos and experiments that might benefit
him and in turn his physical science class. Can this list offer him ideas
of such exercises or perhaps Internet sites where there is some sort of
cache of good demos and experiments? Alas he does not frequent the
Internet -- maybe the best suggestion is for him to do so. (:-) Come to
think of it, likely there is a list somewhere which dedicates itself to
this very question.

TIA
