So stocks are quoted in EIGHTHS of a dollar. Just like a quarter of a
dollar is sometimes refered to as two-bits. i.e. eights bits/dollar. Maybe
this is related to the old Spanish coins 'pieces of Eight'?


(Looks like computer memory is already MUCH cheaper than a million
bits/dollar.)
