Re: Zip

Iomega replaced my "click-of-death" effected drive w/o qualm. They did not
ask about warranty dates (mine had expired). It was still a pain, but they
did their best as far as I can see.

PS -- warning: early ZIP cartridges w/data have a shelf life of about a year.
ZIPs are NOT long term backup. We had a lot of problems hereabouts due to
this surprise. They format fine after a year; but the data
is gone. I have not had similar problems with regularly used ZIPs; nor with
recently manufactured cartridges (yet).

what is the "Click of Death"? I have two zip drives and this doesn't
sound good! This isn't some new hoax, is it?

Thanks,

Sam

Folks, are there those on the list who have experienced the Iomega,
Zip-Drive Click-of-Death???

What have you done about it?

More to the point, what has Iomega done about it?
