Re: nuclear hazards

Just a note on our present dependence on coal-fired electric power
generation (about 60% of U.S. electricity is generated by burning coal).
The typical 1,000 Mw coal-fired power plant puts approximately 100 times
as much radioactivity into the environment as a comparable 1,000 Mw
nuclear plant. There are NO regulations on the amount of radioactivity a
coal-fired plant can emit!

I've never been able to understand those who argue in favor of
nuclear power. We are constantly creating more and more nuclear
waste with these plants, and there is still no where to put it!
And who is proposing to dispose of it safely? The government!
Doesn't that make one just a little bit nervous?
