Re: Required common programming language

We were *told* it stood for "A Programming Language". What's the inside
story?

Right you (and others) are -- but you should understand that this reflects
greatly on the weird people who implemented the language -- Iverson
specifically steered away from anyone who knew about programming -- he hired
mostly the likes of philosophy and english majors -- people who had right
brains (as opposed to the rest of the Center)

Center??? Makes one think aptly of the Pretender. (:-)

By weird I mean odder than Ian Gunn who celebrated the spring and summer
seasons by not wearing socks with his sandals and blue twill pants and denim
shirt (He may have owned only one of each.)

Join the resurrect-APL-movement! ;-)

APL rears its head from time to time -- in odd places. EG the UoDelaware
developed a more friendly command system --- those original symbols were
really daunting -- but POWERFUL. The IBM suits never did understand it.
