We have just been hit with the Instructional Development and
Effectiveness Assessment (IDEA) evaluations. The assessment and the way
the administaration are looking at the results seems invalid when
applied to the physics laboratories.
What methods do you use for evaluating the effectiveness of physics labs
and instructors for those of you with physics labs which are part of
your regular physics course i.e. Our students enroll in the General
Physics courses which have lecture, recitation, and lab components.
Do any of you have standardized evaluations for labs which you have
students fill out on the last day?
