A good way of measuring air resistance statically, rather than dynamically,
at least in principle. What would you suggest for measuring speeds of air
around the ball with accuracies better than 10% or so?

I fear that a venturi feeding a manometer or a shielded and unshielded
pinhead thermistor driving an op amp are two methods that have merit,
but they simply place the calibration task at one remove.
(That means getting an accomplice to drive while you hold the sensor out on
a broomstick and taking readings.)

But there is a simple wind meter - in fact there are rather FANCY wind meters
at your local friendly yacht chandlers.
