I think John knows that the unit is already taken. The kan is said
to be the unit of humility, appropriate to measure that quantity in
civilized human beings.

I once heard that Robert Millikan was such a publicity hound and self
promoter that some wag once suggested that the unit of publicity be
named the "kan." Since this was such a large unit, most people would
only qualify for a "millikan" of publicity.
