Re: airbag safety

A rough, rough order of magnitude.
To stop a 10 lb. head from accelerating at 20g (relatively speaking)
calls for 200 lbs applied over 25 square inches of face - that would be
8psi. The force applied to the lenses might be 10 sq in. @ 8psi = 80 lb

You might wish to evenly apply 80 lb to reading glasses fitted to a
head dummy.
(My guess is for a fairly tame result.) Then if you wished to try
a real test shot, I could probably find you the materials if you would
publish the results, non-profit?

With the publicity about airbags, the speed of deployment, the force, etc.
I have a question:
Is the airbag likely to cause injury to people wearing eyeglasses?
(i realize it would probably be a lot less than thesame person hitting a
steering wheel or dashboard but I still wonder if anything has been done
with glasses. I never saw a crash test dummy with glasses but it might
have been done. Anyone have evidence one way or another?
