You will find documents on student evaluation, with references to the
literatrue on published studies at the web site of the Society for A
Return to Academic Standards.

The studies clearly indicate that these instruments are not evaluations of
teacher or course quality, but merely measures of student satisfaction.
Unfortunately some schools *use* them as if they were measures of teacher
effectiveness.
