A private message from a phys-L-er (not John) just made me aware that John
was not trying to be sarcastic. He was referring to so-called electro-weak
approach to unify forces. Some of us are much better in reading between
the lines than others. Thanks for clarification. So, we now have four
bosons, one massless (photon) and three very heavy (-W, +W and Zo). And
they "mediate" 12 particles (3 neutrinos, three particles associated with
these neutrinos and the antiparticles of these 6. Sure, I can recite these
things, but this is only the first step toward understanding.) Why do we
say that unification occured? Still 4 bosons and 12 leptons.
