Teaching Positions



POSITION(S) IN PHYSICS/ASTRONOMY
Moorhead State University invites applications for a
tenure track position in physics/astronomy at the
Assistant Professor level (pending funding). A Ph.D.
in physics or astronomy is required. Applicant must
provide evidence for potential excellence in
teaching. Applicant must be willing to teach
introductory astronomy. Experience in active learning
approaches is required. Evidence of potential and
willingness to take a leadership role in outreach
programs is required. Preference will be given to
applicants who have experience in outreach programs.
It is desirable that the applicant has potential to
involve undergraduates in research. Responsibilities
will include teaching introductory physics and
astronomy. Candidates must assume the coordination,
grant writing and leadership role in ongoing outreach
activities to strengthen existing partnerships with
area K-12 teachers. Other duties: advising,
committee assignments and maintenance of professional
expertise including undergraduate research. (An
additional fixed-term position may be available. This
position would require a Ph.D. in physics or
astronomy and evidence of ability to teach
introductory astronomy and physics effectively.)
