Re: e-mail formating

The software based formats, Maple, MathCad, Mathematica etc. are not
general enough to be useful other than in private communications.

Another possibility for general use might be HTML. I notice that Micro$oft
Internet Mail allow you to send in that format. I have just sent off a
test of a rtf document sent as HTML to a colleague who has the same e-mail
software. I'll find out what actually comes across.

The HTML format options seem limited--Font, Color, Size, Bold, Italics,
Underline, and justification. I don't see options for non-ascii symbols or
super/sub scripts but that may be a limit of M$ Internet Mail--not HTML.

It is more likely for the e-mail software industry to standardize on HTML
than a M$ spawned format.

I have successfully sent MathCad files over Vax E-Mail
without a hitch - another possibility.
