Re: stroboscopic eyes



I have noticed this effect. It seems to occur most often on wheels that
have areas of flat, smooth surface, like some expensive alloy wheels.
Bright sunlight helps. As the bright light reflects off the bright
surface, it produces a stroboscopic effect which attracts your eye. The
resulting apparent motion happens because your brain interprets the bright
flashes as if they are moving in the same direction as the wheel. The same
thing happens on big trucks that have shiney bright lug nuts.
