Re: C-SAT

Jim Green says:

There is a guy named William F Haxby (I think at Columbia) who takes ocean
height data from C-SAT and because sea mounts cause local (over a few miles)
changes in ocean height, he can map the sea bottom surface.

What does the list know about this???

If you have WWW access, check out:
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/announcements/announce_predict.HTML

The paper announced there is by Sandwell and Smith, but it is the same
idea. The main satellite used seems to be GEOSAT. There are lots of nifty
JPEGs at this site, and not just associated with this project; also stuff
like the age of sub-ocean crust, ocean sediment thickness, etc.
