Re: Request: Text Suggestions

Tony Zee, Perfect Symmetry

Craig Bohren, Clouds in a Glass of Beer

Timothy Ferris, Coming of Age in the Milky Way

Kip Thorne, Black Holes and Time Warps: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy

N. David Mermin, Boojums All The Way Through (excellent discussion of
Bell's Inequality and the Aspect experiments plus a hilarious article
on the trials of an author in the title essay)

R. P. Feynman, Six Easy Pieces

Alan Lightman, Einstein's Dreams

And on a related note, Robert Erlich, What If You Could Unscramble an
Egg?

These are just off the top of my head, in no particular order.

Just wondering if anyone on the phys-l list could recommend readings
(textbooks, articles, etc.) for a course on 20th-Century Physics that
I will be teaching this fall. The course is for non-science majors at
a small, liberal-arts college.
