Re: [Phys-L] Hard vs. soft? Was: Re: Timed Tests and the Development of Math Anxiety

Funny thing about the tablets and a book... My wife downloaded several books onto her iPad which she would normally have gone to Barnes to get. She is having trouble getting into this book where normally she would have read this one and a half dozen others in the same amount of time if they were made from "trees."
I still want the feel of turning actual pages and going back easily if i need to review something without flipping my finger along the bottom edge a hundred times.

I read better from hardcopy. (But I love my Kindle ... is that a paradox?)

An interesting? research project. Is it usta or is their an inherent difference between rustling paper and a screen. What happens to future students given a book (antique) to read in 2020?

bc though rather stupid digital cameras have the shutter sound feature. May be switched of, Laudate Deum!

p.s. only when desperate do I read the NYer online version (Gate Keeper is Bogarting the magazine.)
