Re: [Phys-l] Efficiency problem

Addendum to M. Edmiston's post:

Don't forget the CO2 contribution from the reduction of ores by coal.

New techniques aim to reduce CO2 production (direct coal or nat. gas use)

Rick! You know I'm one of them.

Here's a PBBA: (My priority is not to spend the time googling.)

Countries where the govt. controls more of the peoples lives (in the manner to which you object) have happier people and considerably less poverty. [cf. Guatemala, the US, etc. and Europe.]

And:

I found this whole study to be very sad and very discouraging. It made me
realize that doing the right thing is not something that individuals, or
small groups, or small communities can pull off. Getting us off of fossil
fuels and onto alternative sources (whether the sources are wind, solar,
nuclear, whatever) needs to be done on scales much larger than grass-roots
projects can pull off.

Which means socialism, no? Or at least more government control.

Another bold assertion:

Our survival will never be solved as long as capitalism controls us economically and socially.

bc thankful he's too old to experience our species crash
