I am pretty pessimistic about controlled
fusion, hot or cold. You are correct that
the cold fusion people and the perpetual
motion people are not the same folks. If I
was an experimentalist, I would have done
CF work, back in the day. If necessary, I
would have waited till summer so people
wouldn't notice. There is a lot of pathological
science associated with CF though. Ironically,
it's partially because of censure, that good
people have a hard time doing CF work, that
feeds the pathology. This helps the PMM scam
artists who like to make unfounded analogies
between themselves and CF researchers.
If you know anyone who would be interested
in bringing GWE [Genesis World Energy] to
campus, please have them contact me or
Eric Krieg. This is a once in a lifetime
opportunity to do forensic calorimetry.
They are claiming that they will roll their
gizmo onto campuses to demonstrate it.
For any PMM trick, especially one putting
out a lot of electrical power (1 kW) one
immediately looks for the hidden wires or
batteries. Bit they claim it will uses fuel
cells. This can be tested "easily", since fuel
cells put out 60% of their power as waste
heat, if GWE uses fuel cells, they will pour
out a lot of waste heat. Now if only I was
somewhat skilled in calorimetry, I am sure
I could come up with a scheme to trap them!
