I dispute John's assertion that the private US
medical industry has a 40% overhead, at least in terms of
proportion of Gross National Product expended.

In my earlier studies of the situation,
I found that the US proportion of GNP devoted to
private medical care is not much more than twice the
Gross Domestic Product percentage expended by
the governmental care systems of Canada or Britain.

What tends to stick in my craw however, is that
the average life expectancy of these medical care
deprived people, specifically Britons, is longer
 - but only a few months longer, than my US
countrymen - and women.
