"The Dick and Rae Physics Demo Notebook"

**BUY IT** The PIRA folks wholeheartedly endorse "The Dick and Rae Physics
Demo Notebook". It is on our list of other sources to catalog with PIRA
numbers. (When TPT and AJP listings are completed).

Dick and Rae are great guys to know. To us, they are known as the "real
originators" of the Lecture Demo Workshop format. No offense/oversight
intended to anyone who "went before them" (Meiners, Pole, etc?).

The summer AAPT meeting 2 day workshop is the best immitation we can do of
their outstanding VMI workshops. This year Ziggy Peacock of U of Utah will
lead half a dozen presenters in the workshop in San Antonio. Since UTexas
is just down the road, Andrew Yue and I will be bringing as much of the
PIRA 200 as we can load in a moving van, just as Ziggy did at Denver. This
year the workshop is two 1-day workshops, *roughly* divided by 1st semester
vs 2nd semester topics (1st half of PIRA 200 on the 1st day, the remainder
on the 2nd day). You can take either day if you have conflicts with other
workshops. If you know of a physics teacher that has not attended at least
one of the AAPT or VMI (or other) workshops on Lecture Demos, get them to
enroll ASAP. They won't forget the experience. Karl

Will you let Marc Taylor have a peek???

|I just received in the mail "The Dick and Rae Physics Demo Notebook" by D.
|Rae Carpenter and Richard B Minnix of VMI. It has hundreds of demos in it

|be quite good (after I get more time to peruse it).
