Re: THE BIRTHDAY OF THE ELECTRON
Looking for ways to spice up your introductory courses? On Wed., April 9,
your students can explore exciting new advances in atomic-level science
and technology in a student-oriented symposium broadcast LIVE over the
satellite KU-band from Central Michigan University. The
program commemorates the centennial of the electron's discovery with an
afternoon of presentations by award-winning scientists aimed specifically
at student audiences. The symposium will run from 1:30 to 3:30 pm Eastern
Time.
Speakers include:
* Roald Hoffmann, Frank H. T. Rhodes Professor of Chemistry at Cornell
University and recipient of the 1981 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
* Marvin Cohen, Professor of Physics at the University of California at
Berkeley and University Professor of the U.C. system.
* Max Lagally, E. W. Mueller Professor of Materials Science at the
University of Wisconsin.
* Judith Voet, Professor of Biochemistry at Swarthmore College.
