Re: More Moon and Sun

There are two books I know of with programs and algorithmes for a wide
variety of calculations (orbits and positions of moon and planets, phases
and eclipses of the moon and so on):

Celestial Basic by Eric Burgess (Sybex, ISBN 0-89588-087-3);

Practical Astronomy with your Calculator by Peter Duffett-Smith (Cambridge
UP, ISBN 0-521-28411-2); I believe he has another book with `calculator'
replaced by `PC'.

I think I didn't ask for the information I need:

I think I need the *equations* to determine the positions of the Sun and
Moon and the Moon phase so I can plot them or feed the data into a spread
sheet.

Several list members have given references to very good programs where I
give the date and lat and long and the answers are given. I thank them for
that. But in addition I guess I need the *equations* used in those programs.

Please note I use MSDOS6.11 and Windows31 (I have Win95, but not the courage
to "upgrade" -- so they say)

I would also like a reference to a program to give lat and long of various
sites -- I guess that may be called a map. (:-)
