Recruiting instructors for measurement uncertainty project
Hello,
We are recruiting instructors for a project to evaluate student
thinking about measurement and uncertainty across a range of
instructional contexts. We are particularly interested in the
ways instruction discusses measurement and uncertainty in both
lab courses and quantum mechanics courses.
We are looking for instructors of any physics lab and/or quantum
mechanics courses who are interested in participating this year.
What is involved?
1. Complete a brief survey about the ways you discuss measurement
and uncertainty in your course(s) and share with us some
relevant course materials (e.g., lecture notes, textbook
reference, class activities, lab manuals, or homework
assignments) through the survey.
2. Distribute a 20-minute survey to your students at the start
and end of instruction. The survey will be run through
Qualtrics and all you will need to do is email the survey link
to your students - we will do the rest! You can either offer
course credit for students' completion or we will enter the
students into a draw for a gift card (funded by the grant).
You will be emailed the link to the pre-survey upon completing
the instructor survey linked in 1) above.
You would be entered into a draw for a $100 Tango gift card for
participating.
If you are not able to participate, but know another instructor
who might be, please feel free to forward this to them or send us
their contact info. You may also email us with any questions or
queries.
Sincerely,
Natasha Holmes
