[Phys-L] Confirming that the Numbers Don't Add Up for Muon Spin Precession

You may recall that a small bottle of distilled water can be persuaded to
radiate a small low frequency radio signal if it is magnetized by an external
coil with its long axis in an E-W orientation; when the forcing magnetic field
is removed. In classical terms this is described as proton-spin precession in
the geomagnetic field. This form of magnetometer is within reach of the
enthusiast working on their kitchen-table.Lately, people have been looking at a
somewhat similar effect in muons. Their explanations have provided slightly
different results from those given by using the values of  the standard
theory.I came across a brief (8 min) story on a Fermilab effort  described for
a general audience in this videoclip:

Notice the precaution of blinding participants to the collected results to
reduce human effects.
