Message: Roof solar cells good: white/silver/mirror roof surfaces bad for global warming in Northern climates.Evidence:
Doubtful (to me):Reflected sunlight provides greater heating on the journey out, due to soot & other absorbants.
Poor: city surfaces account for 3% of Earth's surface area, so chilling roof surfaces with high reflectivity coats doesn't make much difference anyway.
Better: In northern climates warming costs rise after high reflectivity roof surfaces are effected.Cooling costs are reduced. But the increase in heating is greater than the decrease in cooling costs.This is the one empirical finding that is quite testable, and so most readily regarded as scientific.Here is the paper.
