[Phys-L] Why didn't I think this. (mirror dispersal of microwave energy[1])



Costco advertises an oven with “concave reflection technology” which claims to heat the object uniformly. After an unconscionably long time, I found the technology description. Instead of a rotating platform or a fan, the oven uses (a) concave mirror(s). Here’s the patent:

p.s. Our current oven stratifies the energy, so one must stir the coffee otherwise the top burns and the bottom is cool. If it were inverted ….
