Re: [Phys-L] astronomy activities

Hey Anthony, I am teaching astronomy next year too. For the first time.
Would it be possible for you to share some of your resources and or labs?
I participated in a program at Columbia a few years ago called Rooftop
Variables. They gave me some resources which I would be glad to send you
if your are interested. They mostly came on a DVD. Lots of articles and
other activities. They also gave me a 6 inch Celestron reflector. Thanks
for any help you can give. When I proposed the class I told them that I am
not an expert and its just a hobby, so I wanted to class to be an elective
(2 times per week). Anyway, I got my schedule for next year and its a full
year course.
Thanks again.

Teaching astronomy (high school) next year. I have some
traditional/observing labs for Polaris altitude, gravity, circular motion,
spectra, telescopes, magnetism, Moon, sunspots, parallax, inverse-square
law, etc. Wanting some labs for the solar system and cosmology topics.
These are less tangible.

Observe any visible planets over a few weeks?
Hubble law analogy?

Other ideas?
