[Phys-L] Timeless universe by Julian Barbour



I have followed Julian Barbour's work for years now. He seems to have
the most in-depth theory of timeless universe containing rich and
strict mathematical, physical formulas as well as deep philosophical
even historical understanding of the topic.

But I haven't seen any critical reviews of his work apart from lame
comments that he had no job, he is a theorist only, or his theory has
no real use, rather it makes all time-dependent formulas only
extremely difficult to understand and apply.

Are there any people on the list, who have read and listened to his
books and lectures more deeply and could pinpoint, what is the real
value of Julian's work at the moment? What are the key points in his
theory that could break it down if not been able to confirm by
scientific experiments?
