Re: [Phys-L] [External] dot minus

In many schools students simply use the "DOT" as a multiplication symbol instead of X. It's neither a dot product nor a cross product - simply multiplication.

Subject: [External] [Phys-L] dot minus

I'm finding more and more students writing, for example, five kilograms times negative three meters per second as 5kgDOT-3m/s, with the dot being a centered dot, rather than 5kg(-3m/s). At first I found it jarring but I've decided I'm okay with it. Any thoughts on the dot minus operator?
