Re: [Phys-L] earthquakes, tsunamis, and defensive measures -- physics in real life

At least here along the Monterey Bay are warning signs:

tsunami signs monterey bay caLIfornia <https://www.google.com/search?newwindow=1&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=ddwEXK6kJdHUtQWnzIrYCg&q=tsunami+signs+monterey+bay+caLIfornia&oq=tsunami+signs+monterey+bay+caLIfornia&gs_l=img.3..35i39.67992.72673..76737...0.0..0.98.1136.12......1....1..gws-wiz-img.PztyORDRCf4>

Every time we go South on the Pac.Coast Hwy (HWY 1; the one closed due to the Malibu fire) we see the prominant one at the mouth of the Carmel River.

And here’s an article: [1]

Note the extensive discussion on the non-quake tsunamis. And not very effective warning.
