Re: [Phys-L] Phys-l Digest, Vol 156, Issue 6

I think the key word there is "new" and it doesn't mean "brand new" but
"new hosting and platform."

Subject: [Phys-L] Phys-L: Updated Archives
All,

After a few days of tweaking the templates used by the software that
generates the Phys-L archives, I have regenerated the official archive
pages. The end result is the archive pages are much more readable on
mobile-devices.

I've done a few spot checks with various browsers on both mobile and
desktop devices and things look good on my end. If you find something looks
funny when viewing the archives on your end, I would like to hear about it.

Sincerely,
Mark Kimball, Administrator

In the early days it was over BitNet, but the email list server

would be recognizable even today. That said, I would not be surprised if
archiving didn't start until 1996, but I don't know or recall that
detail.

I have always read the following from an early 1996 post to indicate Phys-L
was new that year.

Hiy All,

This is the very first post to the new Phys-L list, and is just a test to
make sure some on the settings are working.

Rereading it in light of your statement above shows me I assumed too much
here.

Does anyone have Phys-L posts that predate February 1996. If so, I can try
to include them in the current archives once they are sent to me.
