The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters is their equivalent of the
UK Royal Society or the US National Academy of Science.
Each year they give out two "Outstanding Teacher" awards. It is the
most prestigious prize a secondary teacher can receive. In addition
to the fame and glory, the teacher receives € 5,000 and his school
receives € 2,000.
In the category of not-very-surprising news: In 2016 the award was
given to Antti Savinainen.
