[Phys-L] A Couple of Instances Where "Power" Is Not Power

I define "power" as the time rate of doing work (in watts).

However, I also mention the "power" of a lens (in diopters) and the "chromatic resolving power" (no unit) of a diffraction grating. I tell my students that these last two "powers" are misnamed and that the more general term "strength" might be better.

Except we've already discussed "dielectric strength", which is actually a maximum electric field magnitude (in V/m or N/C).

And some wonder why students get so confused about the simplest things.
