At some point it should be pointed out that there is nothing unique about the terrestrially observed turn-around point of an upward tossed projectile. It is, in fact, a frame dependent phenomenon. In another inertial frame (eg., rising helicopter) there may not even be a turn-around point, and the observed acceleration is the same.
