I agree with everything you have stated. In addition, people have to remember that whenever the government "redistributes", a huge portion ends up being soaked up by administrative costs - and often by pure waste. I would bet that almost all of the carbon taxes will end up simply growing government.

The "founder"? of stimulus would argue, tho inefficient, administrative cost and waste would be better than burying bank notes in mines. so I don't begrudge waste and administrative costs if it result in stimulation. What I do "begrudge" is denying the effectiveness and justice of stimulation and stimulation in a manner that perpetuates inequality. **

p.s. I don't think the type of waste to which Bob refers is waste. Waste is burning money (actually and figuratively), not bloated salaries or unnecessary hiring.
