The museum of natural history (santa Barbara) has (had) a G-M counter w/ speaker. Added was a button switch to motor lower a radioactive rock on to the tube to hear the diff.

I though of using a low tech. kinescope (phonodeik) using a mirror on a diaphragm with a rotating screen.
