The Director of Academic Support at the KSU Department of Physics is
responsible for the coordination of instructional support for the
Department's undergraduate courses, training and oversight of teaching
assistants, coordinating assessment of learning outcomes, developing new
and innovative instruction and preparing instruction-related proposals
for external and internal funding. The teaching load of the Director
will primarily involve one introductory course in physics or astronomy
per semester. The Director oversees approximately 30 graduate and
undergraduate teaching assistants.
The Department applies new pedagogical methods and technology in its
introductory and advanced undergraduate courses and seeks to expand
these methods. [See Am J. Phys. 74 1077-84, (2006)] The Director of
Academic Support will actively collaborate with faculty in facilitating
these changes.

The successful candidate must have completed at least an MS in physics
or a closely related field, and must have demonstrated the potential for
leadership and management skills in an educational setting. Experience
in classroom instruction and evidence of high quality teaching are
preferred.

The Director will be given an opportunity to join any suitable research
group in the department, including the internationally prominent physics
education research group.
