[Phys-l] OT Re: "Unlearning"

What a charming pretension, to see an American teacher staunchly upholding a British
phrase which stands in for the prohibition of clapping in the House Of Commons!
This provides a subtle example of a possible topic for unlearning?

Though OED can provide etymological support for Bob's form, the Google poll
shows this spelling is handily outvoted in current usage, so that it is a question of time
before a progressive dictionary like OED (descriptive, not prescriptive, in the
modern manner) will show the alternative form....

Another good one for Bob's consideration: "Hear ye, hear ye" - a fine
archaic English phrase.... :-)
[I understand that "ye" is also outvoted in the G poll.]

It's "Hear Hear". Most teachers know this.
