[Phys-l] Down Conversion and Up conversion.

A bit late in the day - and I lost the original post:
about shining a laser on a fluorescer.

Broadband light sources are expected to show selective absorption and
reflection from colored surfaces which may change the reflected hue.
But narrow band sources like lasers are expected to
hold their hue - unless they impinge on fluorescers, anyway.
Then, they may get a down conversion component towards the infra-red.
That process is not 100% efficient. So several hues may result.
But fluorescers can show upconversion characteristics too.
