Not that "2" is a proliferation, except maybe compared to the past?

Commentary by S Colbert regarding The Higgs Boson, from the future

I can't follow it, but that's no surprise. My understanding is that 
the authors are not generally considered crackpots (depending on your 
view of string or other theories?).
