The acceleration is almost never downward. In general, the acceleration
is predominantly antiparallel to the velocity of the bullet with a small
additional contribution that is downward. There can also be a lift
component.

I was referring to the fact that all bullets are accelerating downward
from the instant they leave the gun barrel.
