reminds me of a related thought I often have. Whenever I consider o=
ne of the proposals to eliminate the lecture component of physics tea=
ching (the "Keller plan", for example), I wonder how I would have dev=
eloped the "style of thinking" of physicists if I had not spent so mu=
ch time watching them think "live" in the classroom. I suppose quite=
a bit of this can be gotten from reading, but I'm not sure published=
thinking gives quite the same "flavor" as live thinking. (Of course=
