After demonstrating a flame tube at a teacher workshop, one of the
teachers returned after a weekend to show off his copy of my tube. His
worked well except for one thing - he forgot to put a dam between the
end of the tube and the speaker. Of course, gas permeated the paper
cone. All that happened was the cone caught fire & burned through. We
shut off the gas as soon as the fire at the cone was seen. So, yes,
there could be consequences to your showing/ helping teachers make such
a device. Luckily that time they were minimal.
I learned that exact same lesson the exact same way!
