In October 2005 there was a flurry of Phys-L posts (113 to be exact)
on the "WEDGE STRATEGY," all accessible on the Phys-L archives at
<http://lists.nau.edu/archives/phys-l.html>.
These were stimulated by Robert Zannelli's (2005) post of 12 Oct 2005
titled "THE WEDGE STRATEGY of The ID Movement." Robert's post is
evidently a copy of "THE WEDGE STRATEGY," a position paper from the
so-called "Center for the Renewal of Science & Culture" (CRSC). The
paper is posted on the web at
<http://www.antievolution.org/features/wedge.html> by "AntiEvolution:
The Critic's Resource" at <http://www.antievolution.org/>.
My searches with the Phys-L search engines at
<http://lists.nau.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=phys-l>, indicated that none of
the 113 Wedge Strategy posts refers to Marshall Berman's (2005)
excellent report "Intelligent Design: The New Creationism Threatens
All of Science and Society" in the October APS News. Berman places
the "THE WEDGE STRATEGY" in context and discusses the serious threat
it poses to science and society.
According to the editor's note, Marshall Berman has been a manager at
Sandia National Laboratories, vice president of the New Mexico State
Board of Education, and Executive Director for Education of the
Council on Competitiveness in Washington D.C.
Another useful reference on the wedge strategy is "Creationism's
Trojan Horse" [Forrest & Gross (2004)].
