Instructor of Physics
Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities
The Indiana Academy is a two-year, state-supported residential school
for academically gifted Indiana high school juniors and seniors located
on the campus of Ball State University. This position offers an
excellent opportunity to teach small classes of advanced high school
students at a college level in a rigorous academic environment that
focuses on learning and achievement.
Subject to the candidate's availability, contract position available
January 5, 2006, or August 3, 2006. Responsibilities: teaching general
physics, advancement placement physics, or physics related courses and
concurrent laboratory sessions at a level challenging for gifted
students with the possibility of a course being taught through distance
learning; advising students or teaching a research or interdisciplinary
seminar; holding ten office hours per week; serving on various Academy
committees; providing professional service through outreach programs of
the Academy; engaging in scholarly activity.
Minimum qualifications: master's degree or a doctorate from an
accredited college or university in the area of physics or in science
education with significant hours in physics; successful teaching
experience at the secondary level or undergraduate collegiate level.
Preferred qualifications: at last three years of successful teaching
experience at the high school or college level; established record of
scholarly expertise in the content area and/or the education of the
academically gifted.
