Sorry for this second message, but I forgot one of the other packages which
is super and inexpensive.

See Software995 and look at the OpenOffice package. If you can stand the
startup and occasional ad then it is free.

Again this is one I recommend to the students and I personally use the
PDF995 program all the time as it is really slick and then everyone can read
the documents I place in the course.

Again, sorry for the fractured note....the older I get the slower the
retrieval of data.......;^)

Try OpenOffice available at openoffice.org. It should do exactly what
you want with exchanging files between excel and something free. It
is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X (must run X11). The new
version 2 (which I think is still in beta) is great with MS Office
compatibility and look.
