[Phys-L] Re: The Republican War On Science

OK, Rick. I give...Did Hager and his wife write a book in which he/she
suggested that medical conditions should first be approached using prayer? Did
he/she not pop off that prayer was the answer to PMS? That was my
understanding. Perhaps it was in an interview. at a booksigning. I do not
recall my reference source, and like this listserve, it could be totally
fallacious. I will look for it, and the list can then judge its efficacy.

Where did Hager address these "false accusations"? Did he actually say that he
did not make that remark? Hager's response, which I saw, spoke well of tap
dancing around the issue, but not answering the question.

Regarding Hager's position on the withdrawal of approval of RU-486: What was
his ***SCIENTIFIC*** basis for requesting the withdrawal? Or, was his request
based on a personal **RELIGIOUS** premise? Why did FDA grant the approval for
RU-489, in the first place? Were the FDA scientiste less knowledgeable about
field trials than W. David Hager, MD?

If Hager walks like a duck and talks like a duck, don't be surprised if I
mistake him for a duck...Karl

Quoting "Strickert, Rick" <rstrickert@SIGNATURESCIENCE.COM>:

Karl Trappe asserted: "For example, a recent appointment to the FDA (for
reproductive biology pharmaceutical research) was a person who contends
that women need to cure their PMS by prayer, alone, so that further
research on such medication is unnecessary."

Which appointment to the FDA was that? If the reference is to Dr. W.
David Hager, who was appointed in 2002 to head the FDA's Reproductive
Health Drugs Advisory Committee, Dr. Hager has addressed the various
false accusations, such as that he "contends that women need to cure
their PMS by prayer, alone, so that further research on such medications
is unnecessary", in quoted excerpts on
http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/hager.asp and

2385304be12d28f11d23b79e916108.

The hate-attacks found on the internet against Dr. Hager are primarily
because of his pro-life views (described as "vehemently pro-life" by
vehemently pro-abortion advocates) and his urging that the FDA approval
of RU-486 be withdrawn.
