[Phys-L] Re: SACS question

The SACS criterion is that a master's degree in the discipline is
required for accreditation, unless one can demonstrate that the
instructor has expertise without it. The institution must retain
documentation of this. For example, I once hired an adjunct to teach
the intro astronomy who did not have a master's degree, but his
bachelor's degree coupled with his full-time profession as a planetarium
director was sufficient. The argument is that the MS in physics is
sufficient, because astronomy is a sub-discipline of physics.
