[Phys-L] Re: AAPT 75th Anniversary Booklet

Dear Warren:

Probably AAPT thought about this, but just in case I want to mention it.

I would like that 75th anniversary of AAPT to reflect the diversity of our nation. Based on US Census data, you should have roughly the same number of males and female participants. In addition, I would expect about 25 participants to come from minority groups.

I am aware that there is an underrepresentation of females and minorities in our discipline, but I am confident that you can target your search so that we can demonstrate that physics and physics education is a discipline open to all. Some associations that might help in your search are:

1. National Society of Black Physicists
2. National Society of Hispanic Physicists
3. American Indian Science and Engineering Society
4. Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science

AAPT is compiling a list of 75 physicists and physics educators that could be interviewed for their views on various physics and physics education issues. These interviews will be published in an anniversary booklet that AAPT is planning on publishing as part of its 75th anniversary celebration. Please help us identify those you would like to see appear in this publication by visitingt http://aapt.org/Events/anniversary.cfm to enter your recommendations.

Note: Since we plan on interviewing these people they must be living. :>)
